The bodies of three Independent Election Commission (IEC) officials kidnapped during voting in yesterday's parliamentary poll in Afghanistan have been found.
IEC chairman Fazl Ahmad Manawi said the bodies were found today in northern Balkh province.
The Taliban had vowed to disrupt the poll and staged more than 300 attacks yesterday, security officials said.
The IEC said yesterday at least 14 people had been killed.
Meanwhile the top United Nations diplomat in Afghanistan has said it is too early to describe the country's parliamentary election as a success until final turnout figures are established and all complaints are heard.
‘I think that that is premature, with all due respect,’ UN envoy Staffan de Mistura told Reuters after the IEC declared the vote a success.
‘They have done a great job ... But I would wait to talk about success.’
