St Mary's Catholic church in Harryville Co Antrim has been damaged after paint was thrown over the front door and steps early this morning.
The church has been the subject of sectarian attacks in recent years and the PSNI has described the latest incident as a hate crime.
The SDLP Assembly member for the area, Declan O'Loan, described the incident as ‘disappointing, considering Ballymena had a quiet summer when compared to other places.’
