The Vatican has announced that Fr Kieran O'Reilly has been appointed as the new Bishop of Killaloe.
Fr O'Reilly is to succeed Bishop Willie Walsh, who has retired at the age of 75.
Cork-born Fr O'Reilly, 57, is a member of the missionary order the Society of African Missions.
