A man in his early 80s has died in a house fire in Limerick.
The tragedy took place at a house in the St Mary's Park at around 8pm this evening.
The alarm was raised by member of the Emergency Response Unit, which was patrolling the area at the time.
The victim's brother, who lived in the same house, was taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital where he is being treated for injuries suffered in the blaze.
It is understood his injuries are not life-threatening.
It is not yet known how the fire started and the scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
