The company has not said how many jobs will be created, but it is expected to include positions in marketing, sales, finance and customer service.

LinkedIn will manage its international expansion from Dublin, working with teams from its London office, which opened in 2008 and the Netherlands office, which opened in January.

LinkedIn's offices in California will continue serve as corporate headquarters, with Dublin as the centre for international growth.

Managing Director of LinkedIn Europe Kevin Eyres said: 'We now have more than 14m members in Europe and 60m worldwide.

'As our membership continues to grow quickly, this is the right time for us to establish an international headquarters.

'Being based in Dublin gives us access to a highly skilled workforce and enables us to coordinate our business growth across Europe and beyond to deliver the best possible service to our members.'
