Cowen to attend British-Irish Summit

Taoiseach Brian Cowen and Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Éamon Ó Cuív will attend the 13th British-Irish Council Summit today in Jersey.

The meeting is being hosted by the Chief Minister of Jersey and will be attended by the council's Heads of Administration, including Northern Ireland First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.

Also in attendance will be Secretary of State for Wales Peter Hain and Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond, along with Welsh First Minister Rhodri Morgan.

Issues for discussion will include the economic situation, language issues and renewable energy matters.
