The body of a young man who died when his car plunged into the sea on Achill Island, Co Mayo, early today has been recovered.
The 19-year-old man has been named as Nigel McNamara from An Pollach on the island.
Mr McNamara was driving on the road overlooking Keem Bay when the car plunged 40ft off the cliff.
The accident happened at around 2.30am this morning.
His body was removed from the car by sub-aqua divers and taken to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar for post-mortem examination.
Gardaí say they are not seeking anyone in connection with his death, however they are anxious to speak to anyone who saw the young man socialising in Achill last Saturday night.
Mr McNamara graduated from Athlone Institute of Technology last Thursday with a Higher Certificate in Financial Services. He was continuing his studies in Athlone, where he was undertaking a degree in business.
