Green Party leader John Gormley has said he is reasonably confident his party can reach a deal with Fianna Fáil that will be approved by his members.

Speaking at Government Buildings, Mr Gormley said the talks between the two parties were progressing well in a cordial atmosphere.

He said he hoped they would conclude in time to allow him put a new Programme for Government to party members ahead of the special meeting planned for 10 October.

The Fianna Fáil and Green Party negotiators discussing the new Programme for Government met for three hours this morning.
