Former Fianna Fáil TD in Waterford Billy Kenneally has died at the age of 83.
He was first elected to the Dáil in 1965 and served a further four terms in 1969, 1973, 1977 and 1981.
Mr Kenneally was also a member of the Seanad for one term in 1982 and was chairman of the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party.
His son Brendan is a current Fianna Fáil TD.
Mr Kenneally was twice Mayor of Waterford city in the 1970s and 1980s.
He died last night in Waterford Regional Hospital.
