The death has been announced of former Fine Gael Senator, TD and Lord Mayor of Dublin, Joe Doyle. He was 73.
Mr Doyle was first elected to the Dáil for Dublin South-East in 1982. He subsequently lost that seat ten years later.
He also served in the Seanad and was Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1998-99 before retiring from Dublin City Council in 2004.
The former TD died yesterday in hospital following a long illness.
