Research by the Referendum Commission indicates that there has been a substantial increase in the level of understanding of the Lisbon Treaty among Irish voters.
In a statement, the Commission says 60% of people said they now have at least some understanding of it.
That compares to 44% who said they had at least some understanding of the Treaty before polling day in June 2008.
The second referendum on the Lisbon Treaty will be held on 2 October.
