The body of a woman in her 50s has been found in an open area near Carlow town.
The body was found this afternoon beside a ditch near the main Dublin Road around 2km outside of Carlow town.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
The State Pathologist's office has also been contacted.
Gardaí are not yet saying yet if they are treating the death as suspicious.
