Talks between unions and management at a meat processing plant in Co Laois were due to get under way today in an effort to save 120 jobs.
Management at Meadow Meats in Rathdowney yesterday confirmed plans to merge the company's boning hall with its operations in Waterford.
Many of the workers affected say they have been offered redundancy payments or alternative employment at Dawn's operations in Kilkenny.
