Former Apple MD Gantly dies at 53

The death has occurred of Joe Gantly, a former Managing Director of Apple Computers in Europe.

Mr Gantly died suddenly at his home at Douglas in Cork early this morning.

Mr Gantly, who was 53, was a member of the Governing Body of University College Cork.

He completed his term as President of Cork Chamber of Commerce on Monday and he was the first Chairman of the Cork Airport Authority.

He is survived by his wife Mary and three children Sean, David and Niamh.

In a statement, Cork Chamber of Commerce President Ger O'Mahoney expressed 'deep shock and sadness' at Mr Gantly's unexpected death.
