Tesco is to source more of its products from the UK in a bid to make its stores along the border more competitive with those in Northern Ireland.

The grocery chain is to close 11 of its stores in border counties this evening and reopen them on Tuesday with a larger range of cheaper goods.

As a result, Irish brand goods are to have a reduced presence on these stores shelves from next week.

The company says it will be making a major announcement about the price and choice of what it will offer to consumers on Tuesday.
