Work at a building site in Waterford city centre has ceased following the discovery of a number of human remains.
Gardaí were called to the site of Egan's pub beside Penneys on John Roberts Square at 8.30am this morning when workers came across what gardai believe could be up to 30 bodies.
It is thought that a burial ground could have been located underneath the site of the pub.
Gardaí have notified the relevant authorities and an archaeologist is currently on site.
