Six boys have been rescued from a mountain in Co Antrim after getting lost in bad weather.

The six boys, aged between 12 and 13, went walking on Knocklayde Mountain near Ballycastle on the north coast yesterday afternoon.

When fog came in and it started to rain, the boys became disorientated and got lost, said a police spokeswoman.

One of the boys used his mobile phone to call for help and police assisted by a PSNI helicopter located them and led them to safety.

'They were cold and wet but are all safe, well and reunited with their families', said the spokeswoman.
