A woman had to be rescued from Howth Head yesterday after she got into difficulty on the cliffs near Balscadden.
According to Howth Coast Guard the woman was seen lying in a ‘precarious position’ at the bottom of a steep cliff face at around 1.20pm.
Weather at the time was extremely cold, visibility was poor and sea conditions were rough.
The woman, who is in her 20s, had superficial injuries that were treated at the scene by Howth Coast Guard personnel.
The Coast Guard Helicopter was not able to assist in the rescue due to the weather conditions at Dublin Airport.
In a joint operation between the RNLI, Howth Coast Guard Cliff Rescue Team and local gardaí they managed to get the woman down on a stretcher to a waiting Lifeboat.
She was then transferred to a waiting ambulance and taken to hospital where she believed to be in a stable condition.
It has not yet been established how the woman got onto the cliff.
