The chairman of the anti-Lisbon Treaty group, Libertas, has said the organisation is considering running candidates in next year's European elections.

Speaking on RTÉ's Late Late Show, Declan Ganley said if the group could procure the necessary resources and find candidates of the correct calibre, he would like to give the people of Europe 'the choice that their governments in Brussels did not give them'.

He said there was a need to address what he called a democratic deficit across Europe.
