Bandon Garda Station - Gardaí searching for body after two calls

Gardaí are searching for a body seen by two separate people in the Bandon river near the Co Cork town of the same name.

The alarm was raised just before 7am this morning by an anonymous caller to the local garda station, and again an hour later by a woman on her way to work.

Gardaí and members of the local inshore rescue unit have searched the river channel between the town and nearby Innishannon by foot and boat, but no-one has been found.

A second group is searching the river mouth in Kinsale.

The search is continuing this afternoon.
