Some areas around the country remain flooded today following yesterday's heavy rain.

In Dublin, the Kylemore road is still closed at Labre Park.

The Ballysmutton Bridge has collapsed just outside Blessington between Sallygap and Manor Kilbride.

In Louth, the Ardee to Drumconrath Rd, known locally as the Bog road, has re-opened following flooding in the area.

The continuing bad weather has also affected ferry sailings.

All Irish Ferries sailings on the Dublin to Holyhead route have been cancelled for today.

Also, all Stena line sailings on the Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead route are cancelled for today.

Five killed as storms batter UK

Five people have died as storms battered the UK this weekend.

Police said that the five people died in treacherous conditions yesterday. Further severe weather caused flooding in northern England today.

A 17-year-old girl on holiday in Wales, a motorcyclist travelling through North Yorkshire, a young couple from Plymouth died in road crashes and a 27-year-old man died when a muddy trench he was working in collapsed at a building site in Stroud.

Hundreds of sporting and cultural events were also hit by the wet weather.
