Michael Gallagher - Call for cross-border inquiry

A second service was held in Omagh, Co Tyrone this afternoon to remember those who died in the Real IRA bomb attack ten years ago.

The attack on 15 August 1998, killed 29 people and unborn twins and injured hundreds of others.

Relatives of some of the victims organised their own commemoration, among them Michael Gallagher whose son Aiden was killed.

Mr Gallagher told the crowd that the only proper tribute to the dead would be a full cross-border public inquiry into the attack.

He said the system had failed everyone and its leaders should hang their heads in shame because of the lack of progress.
