A father and his three young sons have been rescued following a short search operation in the Galtee Mountains.
The alarm was raised at around 3pm when the family - who are from Munster - become lost and disoriented after mist and fog enveloped the mountain.
South Eastern Mountain Rescue advised them by mobile phone to stay in their current position and a search team was dispatched.
They were brought to safety at around 5pm this evening. All are said to be safe and well and will not need any medical treatment.
Two swimmers rescued off Cork coast
Two men have been rescued after getting into difficulty while swimming at Fountainstown beach in Co Cork.
The alarm was raised at around 7.10pm this evening.
The Valentia Coast Guard Unit assisted by the Crosshaven lifeboat and the sailboat Voyager carried out the operation.
Both men said to be in good health and are not in need of medical assistance.
Elsewhere, a 23-year-old man in a critical condition in hospital after he got into difficuty in the canal in Galway city early this morning.
The alarm was raised at around 5.30am when two men were spotted entering the canal basin at The Claddagh.
Emergency services carried out a rescue operation and the young man was brought to Galway University Hospital.
