A post mortem examination will be carried out today on the body of a 13-year-old girl who drowned in the sea off west Cork.
The alarm was raised when two girls got into difficulty in the water in Inchydoney shortly before 6pm yesterday evening.
The Coast Guard was alerted and the RNLI lifeboat from Courtmacsherry was launched, but both casualties were removed from the water before the lifeboat reached the scene.
The 13-year-old girl's body was taken to Mercy University Hospital Cork.
