Karen Matthews will go on trial in the UK later this year accused of offences relating to the abduction of her daughter Shannon.

Ms Matthews, 32, is charged with perverting the course of justice and child neglect in relation to the disappearance of 9-year-old Shannon in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, in February.

She will be on trial on 11 November with Michael Donovan, who is charged with Shannon's kidnapping and false imprisonment.

She appeared in court via a videolink from New Hall Prison, near Wakefield.

There was no application for bail and Ms Matthews was remanded in custody.

Both defendants will appear again at Leeds Crown Court in July.
