State pathologist examines Limerick body

The State pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy has carried out a preliminary examination of a body that was found on waste ground in Limerick this afternoon.
The body remains at the scene and a full crime scene examination will take place at first light tomorrow.
The body was found on waste ground close to Limerick city centre.
Gardaí are treating the death as suspicious and the area has been sealed off.
The discovery of the body was made shortly before 12pm by a team of gardaí.
They were searching the area for weapons which may have been used in a number of violent shootings in the city over the weekend, including the murder of 40-year-old Mark Moloney who was shot dead in Garryown on Saturday afternoon.
The body was discovered in a shallow grave in waste ground off the Hyde Road, close the railway line.
Investigating gardaí said the discovery is being treated as highly suspicious because of the circumstances in which the body was found.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious in the area to contact them.
