Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki has signed into law two bills passed by the Nairobi parliament to enable a power-sharing deal.
Kenya's parliament unanimously passed the Constitution of Kenya Bill and the National Accord and Reconciliation Bill at a session attended by both Mr Kibaki and opposition chief Raila Odinga.
The acts pave the way for the creation of the posts of prime minister and two deputy prime ministers as required by the agreement the parties reached at the end of last month.
It followed prolonged violence after the disputed election of last December.
Mr Odinga is to become prime minister when the process is completed.
