A 27-year-old Co Clare man has been sentenced to more than nine years in prison for armed robbery in the United States.
Niall Clarke pleaded guilty to an armed robbery in the state of Maine three years ago but his family say he was suffering from a serious mental illness at the time.
In imposing sentence, Judge John Woodcock recommended that Mr Clarke receive psychiatric treatment and he said if possible some of his sentence could be served in Ireland.
