A teenage boy who collapsed during an athletics event in Co Cork yesterday afternoon is now in a stable condition.

The 15-year-old Dunmanway Mary Immaculata Community College student had just completed a Munster Schools' cross country event in Midleton when he was taken ill.

The boy's PE teacher gave him first aid before he was brought to Cork University Hospital.
