Armed robbers ram through IKEA window

Armed robbers crashed a stolen four-wheel drive vehicle through the front window of an IKEA store in Madrid, packed with Christmas shoppers yesterday.

Four hooded people jumped out of the vehicle and fired shots into the air, then escaped with under €5,000. The robbery took less than 90 seconds.

No one was hurt in the incident, though the store was busy with more than 2,000 customers and 200 staff.

The robbery took place at IKEA's store in Vallecas in south-east Madrid, which has only been open a few months.
