24-year-old model Katy French has died at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, Co Meath.

In a statement, her family said that Katy had passed away peacefully in the arms of her sister Jill and alongside her Mum and Dad.

Ms French was rushed to hospital in the early hours of last Sunday morning after she collapsed in a friends house in Kilmessin in Co. Meath.

Her family said it had been 'overwhelmed by the letters, blessings, gifts and prayers from people all over the country'.

The statement also said, 'we hope that you can continue to send your love to her as she journeys on'.

Gardaí have confirmed that they are continuing their enquiries into Ms French's hospitalisation and are awaiting the results of a post-mortem.

It is understood Ms French's family were in contact with gardaí and are anxious to find out what happened to her.

They  have spoken to some of her friends to try and establish what happened and who she was with before she fell ill.

There were three people in the house at the time she collapsed and that there was not a party being held there as had previously been reported.

The Coroner's Office has been informed of her death.

The post mortem examination on the body of Katy French is to take place tomorrow afternoon at Our Lady's Hospital in Navan.

It is hoped that the results will answer questions about the cause of the 24-year-old's sudden illness and death.
