Government inspectors will monitor how young workers are being treated in the run up to Christmas.
Labour Affairs Minister Billy Kelleher says teenagers need to know their rights, so they will not be exploited by employers.
Mr Kelleher is warning bars, restaurants and other businesses that they can be prosecuted if they ignore the laws about the minimum working age, break times and the number of hours a teenager can work each week.
The Employment Rights Authority will be carrying out spot checks to ensure there is full compliance with the rules, especially in the catering and retail sectors.
