No injuries from Greek & Iran quakes

There are no reports of injuries after earthquakes hit Iran and the Aegean Sea this morning.

A strong undersea earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale shook the eastern Aegean Sea.

The Athens Geodynamic Institute said the quake's epicentre was located near the island of Psara, 200km northeast of Athens.

No damages or injuries were immediately reported from the quake, which struck at 1.43am Irish time.

Greece is Europe's most quake-prone country, accounting for half of the continent's seismic activity.

A 4.7 magnitude earthquake jolted northwestern Iran but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties, state radio said.

The quake struck the city of Orumiyeh and was also strongly felt in other towns.

It hit at 9.10am Irish time.
