SIPTU - Workers vote on package

Workers at the Atlas Aluminium plant in Limerick are voting on a package of measures aimed at ending a dispute.

Production at the car components plant has been halted for almost two weeks because of the row.

100 workers, who are SIPTU members, are in dispute with the company over the pay and the working conditions of its mainly Polish workforce. 150 people are employed at the plant.

The package of measures was worked out in talks chaired by the LRC.

It is understood that the measures include a severance package for workers if they return to work in the short term to complete orders.

The measures are also believed to include a winding down of the company in the coming months.
