80 killed in Afghan clashes

The US-led coalition in Afghanistan has said that about 80 Taliban fighters have been killed in clashes in Helmand province.

A statement said a joint coalition-Afghan patrol called in air support after it came under fire from rockets and gunfire.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of anti-war demonstrators have marched in a dozen US cities to call for an immediate end to the war in Iraq and to cut off funding for the war there.
