A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for raping a student in Waterford while she walked home alone from a disco last November.
Philip Redmond, with addresses at William Street and Birchwood Court, had been living in Waterford for about a month at the time of the incident.
A jury at the Central Criminal Court found him guilty last August on four charges of rape, and one each of aggravated sexual assault, threatening to kill the student, and stealing her mobile phone.
