An Irish woman serving with the United States Army in Afghanistan has been killed while on duty.
An Irish woman serving with the United States Army in Afghanistan has been killed while on duty.
30-year-old Ciara Durkin, originally from Eanach Mheáin in Connemara, died on Thursday but the details of how she was killed have not yet been released to her family.
She had been living in Boston, having moved there with her family in 1986.
It is understood that she was part of a finance unit of the Army National Guard and had been in Afghanistan for the past four months.
