Gardaí investigating the murder of a man in Clontarf in Dublin are examining CCTV footage and are carrying out door to door inquiries.
A post mortem examination found that Finbar Dennehy, who was 50, had suffered a violent death and sustained a stab wound. The man was found in his apartment two days ago.
His hands were tied and there was a bag over his head. Gardaí say he was last seen alive on Saturday night/Sunday morning and he may have been dead for a few days before his body was discovered.
He was a single man who lived in the apartment for the last 20 years and had taken redundancy last year from Cadbury chocolate.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was around the Merchamp Apartment Complex on Seafield Road East in Clontarf to contact them.
Inspector Eddie Hyland at Clontarf Garda Station said all information will be treated in the strictest confidence as this is a complex and sensitive investigation.
