Two separate investigations are under way in Athlone after a woman died when she was struck by a bus in the Central Bus Station in the town yesterday afternoon.
The woman has been named as 40-year-old Sharon Brennan, of Sean McDermott Street in Dublin 1.
Gardaí and Bus Éireann are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Ms Brennan who apparently became entangled under the bus while she ran to catch it as it was pulling out of the station.
She was brought to the Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe where she died from her injuries at around 9pm last night.
