Five killed in Iraq market blast

Updated: 09:42, Saturday, 8 September 2007

A roadside bomb has exploded in a market in the holy Shia Iraqi town of Kufa killing five people and wounding eight.

Kufa is one of three religiously important cities for Iraq's majority Shia that lie south of Baghdad.

Anti-US cleric Moqtada al-Sadr also has his home there.

In May, a suicide car bomber killed ten people when he drove a minibus into an open market packed with morning shoppers.
