Afghanistan - 12 Korean hostages were released yesterday

Afghanistan's Taliban militia have freed the three remaining South Korean hostages. Four hostages were released earlier today.

12 other aid workers were released in three groups yesterday after South Korean negotiators struck a deal with the Taliban, which has killed two of the Christian aid workers captured on 19 July.

The four hostages released earlier today were handed over to representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross near the village of Janda.

The deal will see South Korea withdraw its troops from Afghanistan within the year and stop its nationals doing missionary work in Afghanistan.

The group of 23 volunteers were kidnapped from a bus in Ghazni province on 19 July.
