An earthquake registering a magnitude 5.4 on the Richter scale shook southeast Turkey today.
There were no casualties reported.
The quake happened at 1:05am local time in the province of Bingol.
A team from the Turkish Red Crescent sent to the area confirmed that there was no death toll or damage from the quake, the Anatolia news agency reported.
Earthquakes frequently strike Turkey sometimes with disasterous results.
Two earthquakes killed 20,000 people in August and November 1999 in the industrial northwest.
