Liverpool police are questioning seven teenagers after 11-year-old Rhys Jones was shot dead in Croxteth three days ago.

Merseyside Police said two youths aged 19, a 15-year-old boy, two 16-year-old boys, a woman aged 18 and a 15-year-old girl were now in custody.

A 14-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were arrested on Thursday, but later released on police bail.

Police say they believe Rhys was in the wrong place at the wrong time when he was shot dead by a youth on a BMX bicycle in a pub car park.

Earlier, Merseyside Police renewed their appeal for information about the killing.

Police say they have been disappointed by the public response so far.

Chief Superintendent Chris Armitt said residents must take a stand against the killer and gang culture.
