Three arrests after foiled Dublin bank raid

Three men have been arrested after gardaí foiled an armed raid in Dublin this afternoon.

The three, aged 27, 32 and 33, were arrested after they tried to rob a Securicor van delivering cash to an ATM in Sandyford.

Armed detectives from the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Emergency Response Unit along with local units were involved.

The three are being detained at Blackrock and Dundrum Garda Stations.

It is believed that no shots were fired during the foiled raid, no one was injured and no money was stolen.

A 9mm hand gun was also recovered.

The arrests are part of an on going operation targeting a Crumlin-based criminal gang believed to be involved in armed robbery and other serious crimes.
