Six men have been found shot dead in the western German city of Duisburg.
The men, all Italians, were found in two parked cars near a train station in the city. It is understood all had links with the Calabrian mafia from southern Italy, the 'Ndrangheta .
Five of the men were already dead when found by police, while a sixth died while being taken to hospital.
A passerby had heard the sound of shooting that evening and alerted a police patrol car, which went to the scene.
The men were aged between 16 and 39 and all had been executed.
Commenting on the incident, Italy's deputy police director, Luigi De Sena, said that such a mass mafia killing overseas would be 'unprecedented'.
The Calabria mafia has long had a significant presence in Germany.
