Navy divers have finished their search off the Galway coast for bales of cannabis.
Fishermen found about 11kg of the drug in their deep-sea nets over the weekend and it was believed there may have been bales of the drug lying on the seabed.
Divers started the search at around 2.20pm this afternoon using specialist search equipment from the LE Aishling.
Lieutenant Commander Terry Ward, of the Navy, said they found nothing and the LE Aishling is now returning to Galway.
Lt Ward said the Navy will not be continuing the search tomorrow.
Gardaí believe the drugs were dumped from a ship that got into difficulties off the west coast a decade ago.
