Gardaí are continuing to question a 29-year-old man in connection with the murder of Kevin Ledwidge at his home in north Dublin.

The man handed himself into gardaí in Finglas this afternoon and is now being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Mr Ledwidge, 28, was shot in the chest at his home on Ratoath Drive in Finglas last Sunday morning, after answering the door to a gunman.

Gardaí also carried out more searches today as part of the investigation.

They were searching for particular individuals and recovered around €30,000 worth of heroin, a long-barrel shotgun and cartridges, and a submachine gun.

The man can be questioned for up to three days.
