A fourth man has been charged in connection with last week's cocaine seizure in west Cork.

Perry Wharrie, 47, with an address at 60 Pryles Lane in Essex, appeared before Dunmanway District Court this morning and was charged with possession of cocaine for sale or supply on 2 July.

Mr Wharrie is the fourth person to be charged in connection with the €107m seizure, the largest in the history of the State.

All four men are English with addresses in Kent, Essex and Merseyside. Mr Wharrie was arrested near Schull last week.

A second man also appeared before the court this morning.

Gerard Hagan, 23, with an address in Stockbridge in Liverpool, was remanded in custody until 17 July. Mr Hagan was charged at the weekend in connection with the drug seizure.

Two other men, Joe Daly with an address in Bexley in Kent and Martin Wanden, also known as Anthony Claude Linden, of no fixed abode, were both charged yesterday and have been remanded in custody to appear before the same court next Tuesday.
