A 30-year-old man has admitted throwing a traffic cone off a bridge in Edinburgh last November, which hit and seriously injured a Galway woman.

Andrew Smith, who is from Australia, admitted reckless conduct at the High Court in Edinburgh today.

Prosecutor Alex Prentice said Mr Smith had been drunk when he had thrown the cone over the bridge railings.

He is due to be sentenced later this month.

Kate Flannery, 24, said she had forgiven Mr Smith.
