The Children at Risk in Ireland Foundation has said gardaí need to be more adequately resourced to deal with Internet child pornography.
Speaking on RTÉ Radio's Morning Ireland, Mary Flaherty, CEO of CARI, said Ireland could not afford to be complacent.
She was speaking in response to yesterday's arrest of three men in Ireland, one in the Republic and two in Northern Ireland, in connection with a British investigation into an international child pornography network involving several hundred people.
Superintendent Kevin Donohue of the Garda Press Office confirmed a number of investigations were ongoing.
He said gardaí had been collaborating with the UK's Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, which led the international investigation, and that they were hopeful that there would be other arrests.
British police said 31 children were rescued as a result of the investigation, which involved 35 countries.
